T-Pro & EMIS: Enabling Trusted & Scalable AI Documentation

As healthcare systems move beyond early experimentation with AI, the focus is shifting toward vendors that are safe, governed, and capable of scaling across real clinical environments. At T-Pro, we're working with EMIS to support this next phase, bringing AI-powered clinical documentation directly into the systems clinicians already trust.

This collaboration combines the proven clinical infrastructure of EMIS Web and EMIS X, used daily across UK healthcare organisations, with T-Pro’s expertise in AI-enabled clinical documentation, clinical safety, governance, and deployment at scale.

Both organisations are trusted by healthcare providers across the UK and share a common belief: Technology must earn clinician trust through safety, transparency, and reliability, not novelty. Clinical leadership is actively involved on both sides, ensuring the partnership remains grounded in frontline clinical reality.

What This Integration Delivers

The partnership enables the responsible use of AI to support clinical documentation within EMIS X, embedded in EMIS Web desktop views. This helps clinicians reduce administrative burden while maintaining full ownership of the clinical record.

This is a first in class integration, embedded into EMIS Web via EMIS X for seamless use:

✔️ No copying or pasting between systems
✔️ Documentation structured directly into EMIS templates
✔️ Suggested SNOMED CT codes verified
✔️ Continuous AI evaluation as part of quality assurance

The capability is deliberately bounded:

✔️ AI supports documentation only
✔️ Clinicians review, edit, and approve all outputs
✔️ No autonomous decision-making
✔️ Full auditability and traceability

This is not a bolt on tool. It is AI powered ambient voice technology embedded within existing workflows, supporting clinicians without changing how they practise or compromising record integrity.

How This Capability Is Delivered

This capability is available through the EMIS partner programme, where T-Pro provides the underlying technology as a fully integrated component within EMIS environments.

EMIS Scribe sits alongside this as an EMIS product using T-Pro as a third-party supplier.

Together, this reflects a shared approach to delivering AI-supported documentation that is embedded, governed, and aligned to clinical workflows.

1. Built on Trusted Clinical Infrastructure: EMIS Web and EMIS X underpin daily care delivery. By operating directly within these systems, T-Pro ensures:

✔️ No duplicate workflows
✔️No loss of clinical context

This reduces friction for clinicians and supports consistent, high-quality records across organisations.

2. Clinician First by Design: AI supports documentation, but clinicians remain fully in control.

✔️ Conversations are captured passively
✔️ Documentation aligns with existing consultation structures
✔️ Clinicians review and approve outputs
✔️ Actions remain fully auditable

This reflects a simple principle: AI should reduce burden without removing accountability.

3. Designed for Safety and Scale: Healthcare organisations require solutions that can be trusted and sustained. This approach is built around:

✔️ Clearly defined use
✔️ Transparent governance and auditability
✔️ Ongoing quality assurance

By working within EMIS environments, the solution avoids the risks of disconnected tools and supports safe, organisation-wide adoption.

Why This Matters Now

Healthcare is moving beyond pilots toward real deployment. Organisations are now asking:

  • Can this be governed safely?
  • Will clinicians trust it?
  • Can it scale?

This reflects a deliberate approach focused on long-term adoption, not rapid rollout. By combining EMIS infrastructure with T-Pro’s ambient AI capability, this creates a practical path to scale that organisations can adopt with confidence.

What Comes Next?

AI in healthcare is moving from experimentation to real-world adoption. T-Pro and EMIS demonstrate what that looks like in practice: AI that is embedded, governed, and aligned to how clinicians already work.

The next phase is not more features. It is deeper integration into clinical workflows, continuous post-market evaluation, and the introduction of agentic AI. As highlighted in the recent deep dive Inside T-Pro’s Enterprise Ambient AI Platform by Dr. Youssef Aboufandi.

The challenge is not just documentation. After a consultation, clinicians move across multiple systems to complete what that consultation generates.

The next step is to capture clinical intent directly from the consultation and enable downstream actions more seamlessly.

  • SNOMED coding is live
  • Clinical orders are in development
  • ICD 10 and ICD 11 support are in the final stages

This marks a shift from documentation support to workflow support.

Two developments reinforce this direction:

  • A partnership with Optum UK supporting the launch of EMIS Scribe, an EMIS product that incorporates T-Pro technology
  • Active M&A activity to expand T-Pro across the NHS and beyond

By focusing on trust, safety, and scalability, T-Pro is enabling organisations to adopt AI with confidence, supporting clinicians today while building the foundation for more connected, intelligent workflows in the future.
