Ben qualified as a physiotherapist in 2008 and went on to specialise in musculoskeletal (MSK) care, working across emergency, community, and integrated healthcare settings. He later undertook a Master’s in Sport & Exercise Medicine, which led to an advanced practitioner role in an Emergency Department. His experience in integrating MSK services with podiatry, physiotherapy, and community pain services ignited his passion for digital healthcare solutions. As part of this work, he took on Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) responsibilities, which later led him to a position as Associate Chief Clinical Information Officer (ACCIO) at Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT, Whilst in this role Ben co-designed the approach to digital clinical safety with his other ACCIO and digital colleagues, which ultimately led them to win the HSJ patient safety award (even if he did break the trophy!!). He has also been a panel member of the Digital Health CCIO advisory panel and went on to establish the newly curated Digital Health CSO Council, which he currently chairs.
